Electrolux is a global leader in household appliances dedicated to shaping better and more sustainable living around the world. They strive to be a health and safety leader in the appliance industry, espousing values of ethics, integrity and respect, as well as employing a health and safety management system that aims to foster a strong safety culture.
After experiencing a spike in injuries combined with additional risk entering the business, Electrolux identified the need to bolster their injury prevention strategies. That’s when they turned to Well InForm.
Analysing the information
Whilst it may have been easy to jump to a one-size fits all solution or singling out and focussing attention on a specific part of the business, the initial stages were an opportunity to explore critical metrics and drill down on injury management performance and adherence to relevant processes. Well InForm’s occupational health expertise assisted Electrolux analyse and interpret these findings to brainstorm potential interventions and solutions.
Listening before leaping
It was paramount that a participative approach was employed to refine the potential solutions. It was also identified that certain high-risk occupations within the organisation needed greater clarity as to their inherent demands. Well InForm partnered with the Electrolux team to perform a thorough job task analysis of select occupations. Assessing the physical, psychosocial, and cognitive demands not only gained clarity around the demands placed on the workforce but provided the opportunity to listen and elicit direct employee feedback around injury prevention opportunities. This marked the foundations of building a collaborative approach for future interventions.
Gary Strachan, National WHS Manager adds, “Well InForm understand the importance of collaboration and workforce buy-in. They actively encourage open feedback loops, are prepared to mould their services to suit our needs and support all levels of the business in the execution of our strategy.”
Implementing solutions that engage and transform.
Armed with an intimate understanding of Electrolux’s environment, meaningful and practical injury prevention solutions were tabled. A tailored injury prevention program including targeted training and Well InForm’s Move Well Program was implemented. Examples of the feedback provided by the staff on Well InForm’s interventions include:
- “Really enjoyed the session. I’m so glad I made the time. Great initiative.”
